The invite,

Trips In Ink is on display at Mr Spots Chai House for the month of September 2008. A few original trips, and my new original painted prints are up now. I will be down at Spots for the Ballard Art walk, Saturday Sept. 13. I will also be having another gathering toward the end of the month, date TBA soon. Come down to Spots, enjoy a spicy chai, and check it out.

After thought

If I knew what I was doing…

Hi,

During the holidays in ‘08 I cut up a painting I had just finished into 72 pieces. I gave all of the pieces to some of my friends. The puzzle piece was a gift but also a chance to meet the other puzzle piece recipients in-order to reassemble said painting, without any intervention from me. Turns out most people were totally into it, asking me for clues and such. After a few months it was quite obvious a party was the ultimate solution. So we planed a party!

“The Unveiling” puzzle party came and went. Though the unveiling did not take place during the party, the night was everything it was supposed to be. Good music, food and awesome people. Everyone having a great time, you could feel the love.

I don’t know what life means, but I know it means something. It means something different to everyone. I work at night, I seldom get to see my friends, I work on my art, I play my guitar. Today I’m having a great day. It’s an average nice Seattle day, the suns out. I worked, for a work day it was good and I got the night off. That’s a good day. At the end of my life I imagine things will be similar. It’s the same day everyday and I forget this sometimes.

About 34 of 72 pieces came to the party and many have questioned the writing on the back. What does it say? I did wright a message on the back of the painting, and I am a little crazy, so I threw away the rough drafts and anything that had to do with it. I figured that the message would be read when the painting came back together. I don’t know what it says. I know it had a lot of stuff about loving life and how relationships are everything. It also acknowledged the fact that the likelihood of the puzzle coming back together was very slim. The puzzle painting will be displayed somewhere eventually, as does the opportunity for its completion.

As people, we make each other. Literally, we do. It’s not news to me, it’s just the truth. The people I touch in life, the people I get to see, the people that touch me, make me. They mean everything. This project has enabled me to become more engaguaged in life and to see what really is important in life… to me. And what’s most important in life to me, is you. Because without you to see, speak, and touch, there is no me.

…Well there could be me, but what fun would it be? No fun! Maybe you didn’t get a piece of this puzzle. Maybe puzzles aren’t your thing. But you do have a very important piece to a puzzle bigger than I could ever hope to explain. If your reading this it’s a clue, an if you ask yourself “What piece of what puzzle do I have and where does it go?” You’ll find the answer!

Plasmogamy is a stage in the sexual reproduction of fungi. In this stage, the cytoplasm of two parent mycelia fuse together without the fusion of nuclei, as occurs in higher terrestrial fungi. After plasmogamy occurs, the secondary mycelium forms. The secondary mycelium consists of dikaryotic cells, one nucleus from each of the parent mycelia. (thank you Wikipedia)
